A day in the life

I decided to do a Day in The Life post along with 2 folks I know from Glasgow. Started at this blog the idea is that a date is picked and participating bloggers write down a blow by blow account of their day. What's rather striking is how busy everyone is - the day that was picked was a Sunday and not a single person who does these appears to believe in a 5 day working week. I'm no different it seems. So here it is - my sunday:

 

8:00 Get up, shower, wash dishes, breakfast etc

8:30 Talk to my dad on the phone. (The riots in London were like a wet weekend compared to the Irish riots, he's going to sue the NHS, the council are complaining because he put his three piece suite and a pile of bricks in the front garden)

9:00 Check emails.

10:00 Decide that the big task of the day needs to be done sooner rather than later. This entails taking all of the paintings i've produced in the last 6 months and carefully packaging them all up and putting them into a giant box in order to be shipped to the US. I also need to organise the best shipping quote possible as the size and weight are enormous.

11:00 Halfway through this monstrous task decide I need to take photos of the paintings in their frames as a record. Unpack some paintings.

12:00 Gloriously editing photos of framed paintings whilst unable to move my own chair an inch at risk of crushing a frame, box, scalpel etc.

13:00 Decide I really must pack the paintings up - but bizarrely end up going to the supermarket . I buy veggie sausages, Mint, Luxury Cat food (the more ungrateful the cat the more you feel you have to impress it) and other random things

14:00 Home, having procrastinated as much as humanly possible I start packing the paintings up.

17:00 Paintings are packed away, but it's not that great. The box seemed ok initially but with all the packaging around the frames it's a tight squeeze, feel somewhat disconcerted at the idea of them travelling thousands of miles. Still I feel a sense of accomplishment because everything is finished.....

17:30 Organise collection of the giant box the following day. This involves such unbelievably tedious weighing, printing, measuring and inputting of addresses that I shall not bore you with it

18:00 There was an additional painting which i'd never finished and had decided not to send...but I felt very uneasy looking at it. It seemed like just a bit more effort would might it around but it's really quite difficult to renew enthusiasm for a piece after so long, especially when you've apparently 'Finished' everything....in any case, as if on automatic I find myself preparing a frame for it, cutting down the glass, repairing a chip. Then I find myself breaking out my paints to finish it

19:00 Forced to eat spaghetti bolognaise by concerned boyfreind - missed lunch with all the procrastinating

20:00 Continue painting

01:00 Finish painting, scan it and try to figure out how best to send it

01:30 Bed

It's not actually a standard day for me if i'm honest but it is what I did!
