White Heron

White Heron

The White Heron is not a species of Heron but is simply a Great Blue Heron with a rare mutation that means it has no pigmentation in its feathers.

The animals and birds surrounding it - Capuchins, Squirrel Monkeys and European Bee Eaters - all represent creatures which exist within social structures or live in groups together.

Amongst creatures with strong social structures genetic mutations/differences in individuals /deviations from the norm may be attacked.

Sociobiological theories suggest that these can be seen as adaptive evolutionary behaviours in the long run. These theories have strong critics and problematic moral associations, not least because variations on these theories have been used to support genecide.

The same Sociobiological theories also suggest an evolutionary component to altruism, cooperation & inclusion.
